Bring on the Fourth and Bring on the Barbecues!

I am so excited to be out of the classroom and into the garden.  Summer is here and so is the time for parties and get-togethers out on the back deck or on the beach.  I wanted to create a simple invitation that you can mass produce that has a little pizzaz.June Blog

The Lucky Stars embossing folder is a great way to create a simple back ground for this card.  Real Red Stampin Marker and Clear Wink of Stella add the pizzaz.

June Blog 1The Thoughtful Banners stamp set has lots great words and phrases to mark your celebration.  The all fit perfectly in the four different banner styles that are also included.  The little stars on the banner come from the Confetti Stars Border punch.

I am so loving the new In-Colors.  The card base and the new ribbon style are in Dapper Denim.

Thanks for stopping by and Don’t forget to leave a comment to enter into the prize drawing.  #stampitcontest.

I decided to go monochromatic and use Mossy Meadow throughout the card.  I layered Very Vanilla Cardstock, Mossy Meadow Cardstock, and the world map from Going Places DSP.  I sponged the edges of the DSP with Mossy Meadow ink to give it an aged look.  I love this message from Suite Sayings.  I thought it was perfect for my dad.  It fit perfectly in the banner from Number of Years which has a matching framelet and best of all they come together in a great bundle.  The final touches are the Linen Thread and an Antique Brad.

The inside of the card completes the sentiment.  I stamped off twice before stamping the “world” stamp in the center of the inside of the card.  The words were stamped at full strength.  Often we take so much time designing the front of the card we forget how little touches on the inside can pull it all together.

That said…. I’M BACK!   So to everyone, follow me here on my blog and/or my Periscope.  I can’t wait to give this lovely stamp set away. When I reach 300 followers I will draw and name and some lucky winner will receive this beautiful summery stamp set in the mail. Thanks for stopping by.

Mother's Day Blog Hop 7

My inspiration came from my friend Marianne B. Every year her children would bring her flats of perennials and help her plant her flower garden.  The Birthday Bouquet DSP is bursting with lovely spring flowers.  My mother loves teacups and so I thought it was a perfect match. I love the “A Nice Cuppa” Stamp set.  The teabag tag is so cute! I used a heart from a Paper Pumpkin stamp set “A Big Wish”.  There are some really great little stamps in the Paper Pumpkin collection.

What is better than an afternoon tea in a garden…. When it is a butterfly garden of course!  My favorite the part of this card is creating the butterfly.  I started with VersaMark on White Vellum Card Stock. Then with Silver Embossing Powder I set up the butterfly for the stained glass technique.  I used the Stampin Write Markers ( Blushing Bride, Watermelon Wonder, Pool Party, and Lost Lagoon) to color in the wings.  Using the Fine Tip Glue Pen I attached punched out butterfly (Elegant Butterfly Punch) to a Whisper White butterfly to help the colors pop.  I love to Basic Pearls accent, I hope you do too.

Spring 7

Spring 3

I started with one of my favorite Designer Series Papers “English Garden”.  I love the way the the two designs work together. Mossy Meadow and Rose Red are great accents.  The Happy Birthday is embossed in gold on the Botanical Gardens Designer Vellum Stack (a Sale-a-Brations item only available until March 31st), mounted on Hello Honey.  The lovely little butterfly from Papillon Potpourri is stamped in Soft Suede on Rose Red. The Antique brad gives a finishing touch!

Spring 4

I continued the flowers and butterfly theme with the Gift Box Punch Board.  I used the Butterflies Thinlit Dies to create the lovely Swallowtail in Rose Red layered with the Botanical Gardens Designer Vellum.  This is a great way to wrap a gift and add a special touch.

To complete the project, I used the Envelope Liner thinlet to add an accent to a Whisper White Envelope.  The little details always make an impression.  Thanks for stopping by.  Don’t forget to leave a comment and add the #stampitcontest to be eligible for the prize drawing.

I just LOVE the Curvy Keepsake Box Thinlet!  It is so versatile and is perfect for creating favors to decorate any holiday decor.  When I started this project, I knew that I wanted to use the English Garden Designer Series Paper. It is just so “Springy”.  I used Old Olive Cardstock to give it the look of flowers in a meadow on a Spring day.

The peek-a-boo window created with the Circle Collection Framelitsis a perfect way to show the hidden treasures in this adorable little Easter favor.

EBH4 IMG_4657I just love the Handpicked Framelits and it fits so well with the English Garden theme.  I use the small flowers from the February Paper Pumpkin stamp set and stamped them in VersaMark to give the Happy Easter a little texture.

Field of Dreams Part IV

Welcome back!  Or should I say I am back!  This week has been a little tough.   Since I am a new blogger, I set out a lofty goal for myself to get all of these darling monthly cards out in one week (especially “lofty” in a week when grades were due… for my other job).  However, as much as one plans, one cannot avoid the unexpected.  Just in case I didn’t have enough to do, I had to add a funeral to my calendar this week.  A positive take away from this week is that all too often we only make time for family and friends at weddings and funerals, even though we vow to get together soon.

This project is a way to keep what is important front and center at least once a month.  In January we make resolutions for the things we should do; September is when we make resolutions for the things we want to do!  I focused on “No work and All Play” for September and “The Next New Great Adventure” for October.

Memories in the Making inspired September.  I used the Project Life stamp set of the same name to begin the layering on the striped card base with the hearts and suns.  I used the washi tape from the accessories to secure the “You Are My Happy” card also from the accessories pack.  These little 1″ square cards are adorable.  The yellow hearts behind September was also punched from the little stack using the small oval punch.  The final touch was the wooden heart again from the accessories pack all wrapped in Daffodil Delight cotton ribbon.

Memories in the Making stamp set provided the  Me + You and playful flowers stamps for October.  Although it does not show up so well I played a little with the “Wink of Stella” to add a little glimmer.  Adventure is the theme for October.  The heart stamp is from “Going Global”  I love this set!  It is so versatile.   The pink cotton ribbon and Basic Pearl Jewels complete the presentation.

Inside September, “Life Doesn’t Have to be Perfect” can be found in the Perfect Pennants stamp set.  October was a bit of an experiment.  I love “The Adventure Begins ” stamp from your so lovely.  I “misstamped”.   It should have been put it a little higher on the card and to the left to avoid the black triangles.  However, I love the way these triangles point in one direction or another.  Just like an adventure.  Instead of the .01 pen I used the .05 for this one to make the words stand out a little more.  The camera clip came from the “Let’s Get Away” Project Life Accessory Pack.  It is a perfect way to attach a memento from this Great Adventure.

Finally, I can add this to the group.  I have 2 more posts that I will complete before the end of this week.  Thanks so much for hanging in there with me!  I hope you are enjoying these projects.

Field of Dreams Part III

The summer months are the perfect time to escape the drudgery of everyday life.  For July, I used the “Going Places” stamp set in white craft ink along with Rhinestone Basic Jewels to conger up the feeling of the night sky.  The base card from the Memories in the Making Card Collection, adds the perfect moon to set the stage.  The back ground for the July label also came the card collection and the cotton ribbon in Daffodil Delight completes the look. Inside the “moon” is echoed in Blushing Bride (card design, not a stamp technique).  It creates a perfect frame for a stamp and message.

August is all about playing in the sun.  I stamped off once in Tempting turquoise to create the lovely bouquet of flowers from the “Grateful Bunch” stamp set.  (Tip:  Arrange all three of the stamps on one clear block.  I aim to spread out the 3 different flowers, and this way I don’t run out of room before I get to the last flower.)  “Me and You” is a super cute stamp from the “Stake Your Claim” stamp set. I added to the flower motif with the Curvy Corner Trio Punch to embellish the corners.  I am loving the cotton ribbon and I used it this time in Blushing Bride.  The wooden arrow is a playful embellishment from the Memories in the Making accessories pack.

I think one thing I forget in my daily life, whether completing lesson plans or make costumes for my daughter’s plays, is that being that OCD kind of person sometimes leaves far too little room for creativity.  A favorite saying in our Stamp Club is “Going Rogue”!   I can thank Leslie (fabulous artist and photographer) for that bit of advise.  So August is all about GOING ROGUE!  The stamp on the inside “Life doesn’t have to be perfect to be wonderful” also from the “Stake your Claim” stamp set is a wonderful reminder for us all.  Have fun creating your cards and remember to do it your way.  Go Rogue!

Come back tomorrow for September and October for a sense of adventure!

Field of Dreams Part II

May and June as promised.  For May I used A Nice Cuppa stamp set, one of my favorites of the occasions catalog.  Like Paul McCartney said “Thinkin’ of you’s workin’ up an appetite. Looking forward to a little afternoon delight.” So a cup of tea or a picnic is just the thing. I love the “Have  A Cuppa” Embellishment spoon that adds such a cute touch.   June is all about the Birthday.  I only put one in this collection, but there are of course two birthdays in a couple’s year.  I used Suite Sayings and Sunburst Sayings to create June’s cards.  I love the balloon motif found in the Project Life Memories in the Making Collection.  You can find the Fun, Fun, Fun card in the Memories in the Making accessories pack.

Tomorrow will be July and August.
